The Alto 12 holes transverse ocarina is the most classic, standard, and the most demanding for those who try to make it. I fully embraced the challenge of its making : on the one hand aiming low tones to be hearable and right, on the other hand aiming the high F to be clear, delicate and vibrant with no acute-bend technique required. My choice falls on a flat blowing curve : I think it is ideal for playing fast pieces, for not having to push one’s blowing by getting up to high tones, and also perfectly suitable to play inside.
